Leg ulcer treatment clinic

Every autumn we offer flu vaccination to patients:

  • over 65 years of age
  • with diabetes, lung disease, heart disease and kidney failure
  • who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill
  • taking immunosuppressive drugs
  • who are pregnant

Patients are encouraged to get their blood pressure checked once every three years once they reach the age of 40, but there is no evidence that routine medicals annually for everybody provides any health benefits.

If you have specific health worries please feel free to discuss them with the doctors or nurses.

We are keen to prevent problems as well as treating them! We recommend the following:

Regular reviews for all patients with Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Hypertension, Epilepsy, and other chronic conditions.

Immunisations for people over 65 and patients with certain conditions should have the annual flu-jab in September/October in addition to a one-off pneumococcal vaccine and a Shingles vaccination if you are 70 or 75. If you are unsure on anything please give the surgery a call.

For travel immunisations and advice please complete the travel vaccination questionnaire and make an appointment to see the Practice Nurse, 6 to 8 weeks prior to travel. We recommend that you see us early in case you require a course of immunisations.
