Our team

Doctors – partners and GPs

Dr Nicky Cooper
MBS MRCGP

Dr Cooper started working at Egton Surgery in September 2018, having finished her GP training in 2016. She has particular interests in Mental Health, Diabetes, Women’s Health, Frailty alongside all of the areas that General Practice encompasses.

Outside of work, Dr Cooper lives in Guisborough and has two children & her husband Kevin at home, along with two Beagles and a flock of 12 bantam chickens. She enjoys and spends a large amount of any free time with her own horse and her daughter’s pony.

Dr Cooper is interested in evolving practice to fit with patient’s busy work-life patterns, utilising information technology to assist with clinical practice and with continuing to maintain the old ethos of rural general practice with holistic patient care at the forefront.

Dr Marcus van Dam

Dr van Dam worked as a paramedic before becoming a doctor. Prior to completing his medical training he undertook and published research in molecular biology. He qualified at the Free University of Berlin in 1997 and gained his GMC registration the following year. After completing his GP training in Scarborough Dr van Dam joined Danby Surgery in 2004. He is a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and is involved in training new GPs.

Dr Philip Park

Dr Park qualified at Leeds University Medical School in 1993, gaining GMC registration in 1995. He did his GP training in Scarborough, finishing in 1998, with his last GP training job at Egton Surgery. He moved to be a GP on King Island, Tasmania for three years, gaining Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 2003. He worked in Guisborough for 13 years, then worked in clinical research before joining Danby Surgery in March 2020.

Dr Williams

Dr Williams has worked as a GP on the East Coast for over 10 years and lived within the East for some 15 years. Dr Williams likes music and the great outdoors and has two children who share his passions. A daughter who has a love of horses and a son with a love of motorbikes. Dr Williams will be based at the Egton site.

    Catherine is our practice nurse, she qualified as a nurse and later as a midwife from Teesside University. Prior to that she spent many years caring for people with learning disabilities. In addition to her role as a practice nurse, she is also available to support new mothers in the area of infant feeding.
